Design DIVAS Secret Sister Challenge

I really enjoy the challenges that my fellow Design D.I.V.A.S. in our Splitcoast Stampers Group put together on a regular basis, and also the challenges for our forum's Secret Sister group. Life has a way of getting in the way of all that I would like to do, but I TRY to stay on top of the challenges. (That flower one is going to kill me!! - but I'll get it done -- I'm really overdue on that one and completely stumped - maybe I'll just call the florist!! Tee-hee)

For the Secret Sisters challenge this week, we are to create some form of purse for our secret sister... so here's my take.

I 'CASED' this from my stamping friend Sherrie.. she had a similar version on her blog and I couldn't resist playing around with the basic version to create this for my Secret Sister. I used the Top Note die...created an inner box to hold some goodies, created the flap with a Nesties and added a pearl brad. It's hard to see from the photo, but there is glitter on the flower I added. Hmmm.. maybe that flower qualifies for the "Flower" challenge... ??? Probably not.

I think a variation of this little project will wind up in our next Make 'n Take for a Girl's Night Out.

'Hope my secret sister will enjoy this.. it was fun to create this little item with her in mind.

SCS Group Challenges

I hope you are having a terrific Sunday. It's a beautiful Fall day here in the mid-west…..finally. ‘A pleasant change from close to freezing temps.

Today I’m catching up on two recent challenges from my SCS group... What a great bunch of ladies to craft with! Isn’t it amazing the wonderful people you can meet in blogland? (well mostly!!).

Sara from our group challenged us to make a Christmas tree ornament, and when I saw it I thought "Oh Sara... this looks too hard".. but it wasn't and you should try it out. It was fun, quick to put together and makes an adorable candy holder. For a nice change, I think I'll make several of these to hang instead of the traditional candy canes this year. Here’s the link if you are so inclined to try. (Thanks Sara for pushing me out of my comfort zone!)

This card is made for Karen’s challenge.. to use a sentiment as the focal point of the card.

Sentiment Challenge

Sometimes we need just a clean and simple card to send to a friend, so I’ll keep this on hand for that certain occasion. Thanks Karen for hosting our challenge.

Until next time.. have a great day, and be safe in all you do.

Design D.I.V.A.S. Group Challenge

Kristi, from my SCS Group Designing DIVAS is heading up our challenge this week. We are to create an altered item with a holiday theme – and that can be any holiday we choose.

For this challenge, I elected to (finally) use the antique satin picture frames my sister gave me. She bought at least a hundred of these to be used as name plates for her wedding reception.. then changed her mind. So I was the lucky recipient.

I simply found an image to fit inside the oval that had a Christmas theme. This stamp is “Christmas Dreams” from the Margaret Sherry Hedgehog collection of Penny Black Stamps. I used a holly stamp and red ribbon for an accent. Both images were colored with Copic Markers. Since I decorate just about every room in the house for Christmas, I’ll find a little spot to place this cutie.

Enjoy your day.. and thanks for stopping by.

You Be The Judge…

I’m not sure if this sentiment is intended to be an apology for being late for some important event….or someone acted like a complete jerk. What do you think? You be the judge!  Leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.

Nevertheless, I love the image and it was great fun coloring!

I received this adorable image in a swap that my friend Katy from my SCS group coordinated (thank you Katy for this great undertaking!). The image is from High Hope Stamps.

If you are ever invited to participate in an image swap, I highly encourage that you do it!  What a great way to add to your card-making collection. I guarantee you will get images that you didn’t even know existed!

SCS Blog Group Challenge

Hi Stampers! Today I joined a new blog group on Split Coast Stampers at the invitation of Katy M. who noticed my blog. I was so honored!!

And then, I found my first challenge -- which is to create and post an inspirational card this week. The only stamp that I have is a quote from St. Francis of Assisi ~ but it's so meaningful.
My card was colored with Prisma pencils and Gamsol. The stamp is from Art Impressions, and their selection is unbelievable - I have quite a collection! I embossed the SU Soft Sky cardstock in a Cuttlebug folder, and mounted it on a very soft celery cardstock that I got at Archivers. I love this color combination.
