All My Favorite Things

In a house full of men, I often pull a card out along this line to get my girly fix. It's a delightful and fun image from Mo's Digital Pencil, where our challenge this week is "All My Favorite Things". Someday my granddaughter (if I ever have one) will enjoy lots of pink and all of the colors that go with it so well... it will truly be pink-a-licious!

Dorcas is the hostess at Mo's challenge this week and her theme is "All My Favorite Things". This is called "Big Shoes". Isn't she adorable? I think she's wearing all of her favorite things and the feminine combination of these colors can be counted as one of my favs also. 

She was colored with copic markers and I stitched around the edges before adding chalk ink for accent. The designer papers are all Basic Grey and the cardstock, SU.

Who is 100?

Well, not in 'years', for sure.

It's hard to believe, but the talented peeps of Mo's Design Team are celebrating 100 challenges this week from the very first in October, 2009. While that's certainly a lot of challenges, it's significant to know that each challenge was not only unique, but through the power of the internet, more and more viewers resulted in more fans for Mo's Digital Pencil... the word spread like wildfire and today, Mo has more than 1,000 followers on her challenge blog alone.

So, to 'celebrate' this momentus occasion, we are 'celebrating' too...  and that's the theme for this week's challenge. All you have to do to play along is make a card, 3-D paper project, scrapbook layout... or other project, to celebrate something.

I usually keep my cards quite simple and tailored... at least that's the style I like to think I follow. This little cutie is the happy 'digi' centerpiece for my card.

I colored with Copic markers, but added a bit of depth using Prismacolor pencils. I love the combination of salmon and aqua. The corner punch is a Fiskars punch I treated myself to recently (and I wasn't convinced I should keep). The background is sponged with Versa Magic chalk ink in Sea Breeze which is always perfect to give the illusion of a soft sky background.

Since this challenge represents a huge milestone, there will be three (3) winners selected from the challenge entries this week, and each will get (are you ready for this???)...

•  three rubber stamps,(from the collection at Stampin' Bella)
• a signed original sketch - from Mo's design sketches
• and a $10 shop credit to Mo's store

A Perfect Day for Crafting

It's soooo hot here in the mid-West that I found myself wishing hell did freeze over... whew! It was 106 degrees at 11:00 a.m. this morning and now at 6:00 p.m. it's 110 degrees...and there's no relief in sight for days. So, I decided to stay inside for as much of the day that I could, do a bit of card-making and jump into a few challenges.

This is a darling image from Mo's Digital Pencil and makes a great masculine card, although it wouldn't necessarily have to be!  Don't you just want to run up and buy all of his lemonade?  Poor guy!

Love - Untraditional Style

This week at Mo's challenge, my friend, Cathy, is the hostess and her theme is to create a Valentine's card (or project) using non-traditional Valentine's Day colors.. well, that's simple and fun to do.. and here's my take on Cathy's theme.

Actually, as part of the team at Mo's, I know the upcoming themes for Mo's challenges well in advance, I made this card and took the picture a few weeks ago... then sent it to my son in Afghanistan for him to send to his girlfriend in time for Valentine's Day. I hope that my post out to Afghanistan and his post back to the the US all happened in time.  Please keep our troops in your thoughts and prayers;

Love at Mo's Digital Pencil

Sorry to be posting my challenge card for Mo's Digital Pencil late, friends. I just haven't been feeling up to speed with one cold on top of another. It's exhausting!

Anyway, Cathy set the theme as Love.. with buttons, lace and bows.. and I happened to pic an image that has two of elements already built in! I'm not one for anything too fussy, especially since this is a card designed for a guy to give to a girl...

Challenge Time at Mo's Digital Pencil

This week Elaine's theme for our challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil is a color challenge... of red, orange, yellow and neutrals.

I've been wanting to color this image for a while as it (and the sentiment) reminded me of my parents poker games. My parents both enjoyed a good, neighborly, friendly night of poker.. it was always nickel, dime, quarter - nothing big, but they were serious and REALLY good poker players. I wasn't lucky enough to inherit that gene.... I don't think I even inherited their poker faces!! You could read me like a book. If I had a pair of 3's you would have thought I owned the world!

If you know anything about poker, a Royal Flush is the best hand you could have... and it's RARE!!  That's when you really raise, raise, raise to build the pot. And when someone was lucky enough to have a Royal Flush, you would have wanted them to have their heads cut off!! HE-HE!

Simply colored with Copic markers, this Queen of Hearts pretty much says it all... She doesn't seem to be a very nice Queen, though.... and probably won't be on the invitation list to Prince William's and Kate Middleton's wedding.

Around the World

It's challenge time at Mo's. And, this week, hostess Elaine set the theme as "Around the World".. using ethnic themes... or the colors of your country's flag.

I chose an image from Mo's that I've never colored before... this little darlin' in her Sari. How perfect is she?

The sentiment is "Hello" in Hindu. And, I only know that because I did a search in Wikipedia (gotta love that site!). A friend saw this image all colored up and claimed it... so now that the card is made, it's going to be set aside for my friend, Kim.

We're Going Retro

Our lovely DT member, Elaine, has set the theme today for our newest challenge at Mo's and it's about "Going Retro" to the look of the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's...

With all of the hoopla of Johnny Depp in the latest version of Alice's escapades last year, I chose Mo's version of the White Rabbit from the fairy tale "Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll. The Walt Disney version was first introduced in 1951  (my babysitter told me about it - HA!) and was a compilation of Carroll's tale and pieces of Through the Looking-Glass.. nevertheless, a great story.

But let's get real here, friends. I think Alice was smoking something.. don't you agree??.. she was small one minute and big the next. Magic mushrooms perhaps?

This cute little guy was always worried about time and about being late..

He sure looks like he's ready to party (NOT!!). Look at that poor face.. he looks exhausted.  The clock was made with a SU stamp I had and I cut off the surrounding words and simply created the hands and added a brad.. the banner font was computer-generated. The background paper is a piece of vellum from my scrap pile onto Kraft paper.  He was a joy to color and shade with copics.

God Bless the Beast and the Children

Hi friends! Happy New Year to everyone.

At Mo's challenge this week, Lisa is our hostess and her theme is "God Bless the Beast and the Children".  I used two images from Mo's that would appease my sense of humor.

This reminds me of my own childhood... Rumor has it that at the ripe age of three, unbeknownst to my parents, I took my newborn sister out of the crib and brought her into the kitchen where my parents were enjoying a cup of tea... After all, my parents did bring home a new doll just for me and she was mine!

To this day she has neck and shoulder problems. Might there be a connection???  Well, fast-forward a 'few' years and she has forgiven me.

But I do remember moments just like this...

Go Ask Alice

It's time for fantasies, fairies, princesses, princes, and fairytales. That's the theme this week for our challenge at Mo's. And for this challenge, I pulled out one of the images from Mo's Alice in Wonderland series. I've been wanting a good reason to color up the Mad Hatter... he's such a colorful character.

Wouldn't this make a great masculine card for Valentine's Day?  Hmmm... I might have to put it away until then. Wow, a jump start on Valentine's Day sounds good.

Winter Wonderland

Winter wonderland is the theme for this week's challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil. And since Santa arrived a bit early this year and delivered an air compressor for my Copic markers (via a man in a brown suit), I had to do a test run to create this nighttime skating scene using Bella and Bronte.

Although I used several shades of blue Copic markers, I do like the way the sky turned out. I cut a second image to mask this one before spraying.

I believe there's quite a learning curve with this tool... so I won't get too discouraged about this outcome.

It's like anything else...Practice, practice, practice!

Delightful December

Hi friends.. happy December to you!  I can't believe this magical month has finally arrived. In the papercraft world we seem to start to get ready in July or August, right? I'm so prepared I could burst (just kidding).

Before I get to my challenge post, could I please share something quite personal?  I know I haven't been my usual upbeat self lately.. short posts, nothing extra to post.. mojo missing, etc... but I have a good excuse (and I'm sticking to it!!). My oldest son, Thom has been one of my heroes, and especially now. He heard about an unexpected opening with an Army company heading to Afghanistan, and although he was deferred from immediate deployment during an education leave, he offered to join them. Am I proud that he volunteered to fill the position? Yes 'cause that's the way I raised him. But, as his mom, for me it's a double-edge sword.. I'm a very proud yet a very protective grizzly bear and it's hard to see him leave.

Here's my hero all decked out in his uniform.. and he's almost smiling!! (they aren't supposed to smile in official photos!)

I'm hoping that if I talk about Thom leaving it will be better for me to get through this and with the help of so many of my blog and DT friends, you will help me get through this tough year ahead. Please keep my Thom in your special thoughts and/or prayers.

Now, onto the reason you stopped by.. it's challenge time at Mo's Digital Pencil and that very talented lady always has so many great digis up her sleeve. Here's one of her newer images that I used for Lisa's Glitz and Glimmer challenge. With a house full of men, I don't often get to focus on girly stuff and this fairy was fun to work on. I think I need a granddaughter.. or something! Ya think??

Take Time to Thank a Veteran!

November 11th has been a special day of recognition here in the United States since the end of World War I. Somehow one day a year just doesn't seem enough for the many sacrifices generations of our service men and women have made to keep our country safe.

To honor our Veterans and their dedicated service to our country on this special holiday, I had to use this darling image from Mo's Digital Pencil for today's challenge. This little guy has a myriad of interchangeable hats representing every branch of service that he can don. And, today, he's wearing his US Army beret. There's a special soldier that I have in mind who will be the recipient.

The challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil is to use vellum &/or acrylic.. and although it might not look like it, that tab in the upper left corner is a piece of vellum that I stamped with my sentiment. Take time to join us in our challenge this week, friends.

Pick a Pocket

I love when challenges push me outside my comfort zone... (well, sometimes anyway!!)  I get so used to my traditional non-frilly cards that it's nice to try something new.

This week at Mo's challenge, the theme is 'pockets'. Without any pre-conceived plan in mind (sometimes I work backwards!! HA), I created just a simple pocket on my card to hold this darling image of Bella and Bronte from Mo's Digital Pencil.

Pick a Season at Mo's Challenge

It's challenge time at Mo's Digital Pencil and this week hostess Dawn sets the stage for "seasons".. just pick a season and create something using one of Mo's digis.

I'm pretty much in a Halloween kind of mood, having decorated the house a bit a few weeks back. Couple that with all of the Halloween craft stuff I bought last year and didn't get to use, I had to pick Halloween as my season. So, I colored one of Mo's newer images.. this spooky witch!

The house and bat is a Sizzix die that I bought last year and finally got to use. The ghost is a Jolee's sticker and the fence is a MS punch.

This is Kitty Kat Kai, one of Mo's more recent creations and it's my first time using this image.  I couldn't resist coloring him to get him ready for some serious trick or treatin'.

Is that an angel face or what? I'm sure he reminds you of some little tyke in your life they way he did me.
