Feeling a Bit Sassy!

Hi friends... it's time for another challenge at Sassy Cheryl's! She has the most fun and whimsical images and something for just about any occasion. Our challenge this week is to use a sketch that our creative DT member, Heather, created. I found this a great sketch to work with. Thanks Heather! I'm sure I'll use this creation over and over.

I love this knock-kneed Little Chef... isn't she cute? I think Sassy Cheryl must have seen my skinny legs and copied them.

I was in a mood to create a card using one of my favorite color combinations... pink and pale green.  Hope you like it!

Summer Showers

Welcome to a great Tuesday here at the Wired Angel's craft grotto. Today's challenge day at Sassy Cheryl's and this week, the talented Jodi is our hostess. She's put together a challenge using any type of embossing.

So, I grabbed my trusty Scor-Pal and created some backing paper for my Sassy Cheryl image... hope you can see all of those squares I created.

Using Prismacolor pencils, I added some grass to the image below the bathtub and lightly chalked a few clouds. This image is called "April Showers" and you can find it at Sassy Cheryl's shop. Isn't she the cutest? I'd love if you would join us... hopefully, I'll see you at the challenge!

For our obscure holidays... today, June 8th, represents two special days... Best Friend Day
and Name Your Poison Day... obviously celebrating your best friend is self-explanatory... but Name your Poison means to make a choice. So, don't get these two events confused by poisoning your best friend!! Yikes~

Our Challenge at Mo's

Happy Thursday sportsfans!! It's almost the weekend (thankfully!!)...and here in the States it's a long holiday weekend. Woo-hoo!

Today I've got a card for our challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil.  This week, hostess Denise has challenged us to make a card or project to celebrate babies or baby animals.. and include ribbons or bows.

I chose this little darling "Bella {hearts} Bronte that I've never colored before... and she just came to life.

I used Prismacolor pencils, antiqued the image and card with Tim Holtz' tea dye, the sentiment is the definition of 'love' from an old dictionary and the heart was made using the Cuttlebug Swirl folder which I ran through a Sizzix die cut called "primitive hearts".

Our Challenge at Isabella's Sketchbook

Hi everyone...

This week our challenge at Isabella's Sketchbook is to create a card or 3-D project to celebrate our country's colors, and with Memorial Day approaching here in the States, it's another opportunity for me to use red, white and blue! I love this image that Isabella Joy created.... it has such a homey, Americana look.

For my card, I used copics first, then highlighted with Prisma pencils. The napkin is paper pieced to match the background designer paper. The accents are a gun-metal button, white and red ribbons, and some hemp as an added touch. The sentiment was computer-generated.

The theme of the challenge is to create a card using the colors of your country's flag - so that leaves this wide open. 'Can't wait to see what you create. Hope you will check out Isabella's fine images and play along with us. There's a prize of two of Isabella's digi images for one lucky person.

A Bit of Precipitation

Hi everyone... 'hope you are having a terrific day and enjoyed a great Cinco de Mayo!

Thursday means it's time for our new challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil. For the entire month of May Denise will be our hostess and for her first challenge, it's all about rain (or water in some form). Check out our challenge blog and come play along with us.

So I chose to use Kai in the Rain from Mo's collection and kept embellishments minimal to allow the image and designer paper to be the focus. This cute little guy is colored with Prismacolor pencils. Hope you like it!

Monday Musings

Hi everyone... and happy Monday.

I spent a leisurely weekend enjoying Spring, some time at the KC Zoo to meet Spiderman (now I know you are jealous!)... am now sporting a sunburn and a stiff knee.  Rather than get out and about, I should just stay in my Craft Grotto where I can't get hurt!!  Do you have days like that?

I made this card using a digital image from Isabella's Sketchbook and had a lot of challenges in mind doing so. Still life art is one of my favs and I was able to capture the homey feeling that I was looking for with these papers and embellishments.

Challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil

Happy Thursday everyone.. it's tax day here in the U.S.... aren't we just the luckiest!! Yikes.. this is my absolute least favorite day of the year!.

But onto fun and positive things. It's challenge day at Mo's and this week I have the honors of hostessing... so I came up with a sketch.

and here's my take.

I can't tell you how many times I have colored this image from Mo's... I never tire of it and just love the sepia tones she used to create this little gem.  This is so perfect for Mother's Day.. don't you think? You should see all of the great inspiration that the DT has put together...

Christmas Stamping All Year Long

Hi everyone.. I have a quick post today.. we're closing in on tax time and that means fun, fun, fun here at the Wired Angel's homestead!! (Yeah, right!! - I'd rather have a root canal minus the anesthesia).

Every Friday it's time for the Christmas Stamping All Year Long (CSAYL) challenge. Check out what the DT has put together using this color combo.. and the cool thing is that you can use any image from any company to play along.

This week our hostess is Patty and her challenge is for us to make a Christmas card with violet (purple, lilac), ivory and gold. At first I really pondered this. But this darling snowman digi image from Sassy Cheryl's was just perfect for this project and he really came through for me.

I cut this image using a Nesties die but left his little carrot nose outside of the die and this technique accents it a bit.  Here's a closer look.

I've got so many Christmas cards ready for the holidays.. I promise myself that I will have a stress-free holiday with cards and little papercrafted gift items ready.

Our Challenge at Mo's

Hi everyone... Happy Thursday! Today's card is for our challenge at Mo's. This week is our 26th challenge... a half a year already. It's hard to believe how time flies.

I have the honor of hostessing this week's challenge and did a 180 degree turn from last week's pastels... This week it's all about black, kraft, white AND whatever colors you would like to use... the sky is the limit!

Since I'm a bit of a Christmas freak, and I hadn't colored this image before, I had to color-up this darling Christmas bunny from Mo's Digital Pencil. I kept this image as the main focus without any other frills. There's some glitter under his feet that might be hard to see in this photo.

Pretty Pastels

Hi everyone... It's time again for our challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil. This month I have the pleasure of hostessing the weekly events and for my first event I've chosen "pastel colors" as the theme.

There's been several times that I've colored this darling image from Mo's shop, so since I picked it again for my project, I guess you could say I really like this one. Isn't it funny that we go back again and again to those things we love and enjoy?

This was colored with Prismacolor pencils (no surprise there) and I kept it quite clean and simple.. the image is too darling to be cluttered with a lot of doo-dads. So it had to be clean and simple. The rest of the card is pretty much self-explanatory.

Asian Influence from Isabella's Sketchbook

Digital artist Isabella of Isabella's Sketchbook is hosting her very first challenge today. It's a sketch that she created while she's waiting to put together her first design team. She's so excited she just can't wait to get started. Can't say I blame her!

I absolutely love the convenience of digital images and purchased a few images from her shop a few days ago.. they are all terrific, but some in particular really caught my eye and they were perfect for a project I had in mind. So I quickly got busy making up this card for the challenge.  I enlarged the digital image to make it the central focus of my card.

By the way, in celebration of her first challenge, Isabella has a sale going on... all images are 20% off at her shop today through Friday. We all love sales, right? This was a really fun project to work on. After coloring with Prismacolor pencils and OMS, I heat-set Ranger's Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel, (gave it five coats allowing it to dry in between) then popped it into the freezer for about 15 minutes before cracking it. I used Ranger's tea dye to give it an antique/distressed look.  I'll be doing this technique again in the near future... it was a lot of time spent doing it, but I love the outcome. Even the men in my house approved!

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Time!

Hi everyone.. I have the cutest Sassy Cheryl image to show you today. Our challenge hostess, Tracy, has called for distressing this week... and that's always a nice change from clean and simple cards, don't you think?

I LOVE snowmen with personality and this little guy fits the bill.  He's perfect for a distressed, vintage look with that top hat he's sporting. And I had just the miniatures to go with this image.... borrowed from my miniature general store. Those are tiny Christmas packages on the rocker... just not the best photo to display them.

Starting with a card base of Neenah solar white paper, I antiqued the card, designer papers and image with Tim Holtz' Tea Dye. My snowman friend was colored with Prismacolor pencils.. my fav!

This week the Design Team at Sassy Cheryl's challenge will be picking their top three favorites entries. The lucky three will get this special blinkie for their blog. So join us for a fun week.

Digi Images from Isabella's Sketchbook

Happy Monday everyone!

I've got a card to show you using an image from a new digital artist to the papercraft scene. Her name is Isabella Molina, owner of Isabella's Sketchbook. Isabella has recently started a new group at Paper Craft Planet that you have to check out.. there's even freebies for her members. Her images are perfect for coloring. Right now she's putting together a design team, so go check it out!

This still life shot was colored with Prismacolor pencils using Gamsol. I love my markers, but really enjoy pencil coloring. I can sometimes work hours creating a pencil image as is the case with this one.

I purchased an old dictionary (circa 1962) from my local used-book shop just for paper-crafting. 'Doesn't quite qualify as an antique or relic, does it? It was all of $1 but perfect for my repurposed projects. I selected the page that describes peaches... kind of nifty, don't you think?

I'm entering this in the One Stop Craft Challenge where the theme is fruit.

April Fools!

Okay... so I'm jumping the gun by a few days... but I truly have faith that once April arrives the chance of more snow diminishes. Yup.. I'm a prisoner of hope and I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Quick post today...I just had to do some card-making with all of the images I've been coloring lately. Once the colored image stack gets about 6" high it's time to make cards.

This is a darling image from Sassy Cheryl's.. guaranteed smiles from everyone that eyes it. It's perfect for April Fools Day but if I had thought about it several weeks back, it would have been a perfect image for Mardi Gras too. Did you know that the Court Jester was the model for the Joker in a deck of cards?

I colored the Court Jester with Prismacolor pencils using Gamsol onto Neenah Solar White cardstock. The DP's are from my scrap pile.
