Knit 1, Purl 2

I have some posts that I've got to get done in the next few days... I'm coloring like crazy and have to get things onto my blog. But today, I've got a different kind of project to show you.. something I just completed.

This purse was custom-made for a customer who specified these colors in particular (red, sage, magenta, purples, tangerine, etc). I always try to take a picture before sending them off so I can share them with you. It's a combination of knitting, crocheting, some needlework and done in wool, mohair, silks, bamboo, some synthetics and blends of various fibers.. some are even jeweled, sparkly and very unusual. It's fully lined and has two deep side pockets (and I can't sew to save my life!).


I get comments everywhere I go when I carry mine... one woman wanted to buy the one I was carrying!!

One of these days I'll have them back up on my Etsy shop as soon as I can build up more inventory. I seem to be selling these as fast as I can make them (if 50+ hours to make one is fast??).

The Bag Lady...

Happy Thursday everyone!

Well, the Wired Angel doesn't sit still very long.

Here's another version of my fiberart purses. Yesterday this purse was sold and off it went to it's new owner in the Orlando area for delivery tomorrow. Can't wait to hear her reaction! Shari.. thank you! May you always have a few extra pence tucked inside.

It definitely has to be one of my favorites (so far...) and I love the bright colors that give it a certain Caribbean/Floridian flare. It really is so much nicer IRL and photos just don't give these pieces justice! I think my customer will be much happier to hold and touch after selecting from these pics.

Bits and Bobs... Odds and Sods

Well that's an English expression meaning a little of everything and that's what today's post is all about.

When I came downstairs to my craft grotto this a.m., I found this and just had to take a picture....

We move our potted hibiscus trees from our deck to the basement once there's a chance of frost. What a cheerful surprise to find this delightful flower on a cold winter morning in Kansas!

And here's how it's looking outside...Even in their matching coats they don't look too happy, do they? I think they learned how to feign shivering so I go on a guilt trip and let them back in. Yep.. there's a whole lotta shakin' goin' on!

I wanted to show you one of my more recent projects. A few friends have written and asked that I share some of the pictures of the purses that I sell. Thought you might like to see my little works of fiberart also.

These are a mixture of knitting, crocheting, some needlework, using silk, mohair, wool blends and various fibers. They are an awful lot of work, but really fun to create. I get compliments on the one I use everywhere I go... it's such a conversation piece and truly a piece of art.

Some other fun projects

When I can't stamp and color, or I'm in a creative block, I do have other crafts that I turn to. There's something about the old saying "idle hands"... mine are never not busy. Here's a few of the needlework projects that I have been working on over the last weeks that are finally finished!

The toddler's jacket took more time that I expected because I totally screwed up the sleeves and needed the moral support of my local knitting shop experts. The purse is shown in two pictures.. side A and side B. These are so unique and I love the creative license that comes with making these!!
