CSAYL

Hello everyone.. happy Monday to all of my blog friends!

Today's the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long challenge - Challenge #20... wow... each week that goes by just baffles me! But I feel really good.. I have started my Christmas shopping.. I bought my friend Dana one of her favorites stamps... "Loads of Love"... he-he (I know she will read this).

For this week, Vicki, the creative talent behind Summerthyme Studio is hosting our challenge...(great job Vicki - thank you for doing this!):

"Your challenge this week is to creatively use Buttons and Ribbons to embellish your card! Big Buttons, teeny buttons and lots of Ribbon! Let's see some creative bows or ties, I'd love to see what you come up with!"

Well, I'm not so sure that I used 'lots' of the stuff for the challenge, but I sure had fun putting this card together. My followers know that I love the CAS look ('clean and simple').. I'm just not into the busy look. And when challenges call for a lot of bling, I actually shake in my craft chair (he-he) - almost like the Wired Angel coming off of a caffeine high in days long gone.

I love cream, ivory, and white-on-white looks...it's so classic and rich 'winter white' looking. I used buttons that had shanks on the back, but I easily removed them with snippers.. the buttons probably came from some piece of clothing. It's kinda fun to recycle whatever you can. Hope you like this... I tend to go back to the non-traditional Christmas colors given the opportunity.
Enjoy your day.. stay well! And, don't forget to check out "Operation M.O.M." which you can access at the tab at the top of this page.. there's so much good stuff coming that will make your life so much easier. And, who doesn't want that??

Ciao for now,

CSAYL – Week 17

Happy Monday stampers! It’s now week 17 of the Christmas Stampin’ All Year Long challenge, and this week’s challenge is hosted by Debbie of The Paper Garden. She’ll be hosting this challenge every third week of the month.

This week's challenge is a color combo challenge. The color combo is: sage, chocolate and peach (or SU’s apricot appeal or groovy guava): a big departure from our traditional Christmas and holiday colors. Debbie also prepared a sketch layout if we wanted to double up on the challenge, but I had this layout in mind using the “Catching Snowflakes” digital image from Fred, She Said. So jump in and join us in this fun weekly challenge.

Merry Fred CSAYL17

Christmas Stampin’ All Year Long Challenge

Hello to everyone and happy Monday. We had a weekend of gray skies, lots of rain, thunderstorms and tornado warnings here in the Midwest. I hope you had a better weekend of weather than we did! But it is rather peaceful falling asleep listening to the rain.

Every Monday I have to check out the CSAYL Challenge to see what the design team came up with for us. Here’s my card for the Week 14 Challenge. Maria Bell and the DT have done a great job providing us a sketch challenge, which you can view
here.

Challenge #14

Details: I used various scraps of designer papers from my scrap pile and white cardstock. This digital image is from “Fred, She Said”. I colored the image with Prisma pencils and OMS, and added liquid appliqué and glitter to the girl’s fur trim on her clothing (hard to see in this photo). The image was die cut with Nestabilities, and then I used a corner punch to round the edges. The glitter yarn trim is from Berwick-Offray.

Spring has Sprung??

Well, not exactly here in the Kansas City area. We were due to get 6-10" of snow last night, but the weather gods have been nice to us. So the old adage "March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb" may not be true this year. Everyone I talk to is soooo ready for Spring! You know the way the weather people predict the weather, I could qualify for this kind of job! I can't tell you how many times I've shoveled 6" of 'partly cloudy'!

Here's a little something I made to get me in the Spring mood - and yes, I've been doing that a lot lately. It's a digital stamp from Fred, She Said Designs. These images are so cool to download, print, and color. I used Copic markers, stickles for the center of each flower, cut them out and popped them up with SU Dimensionals. It's a pretty simple technique but it packs a lot of 'wow', don't you think? This is definitely a card to hand present to someone or mail in a small corrugated box perfect for this size card.
