Gotta Love My Soldier

Hi friends... If you came here from my talented friend Linda Payne's blog, you are right on track.

I heard this recently.. and it's so true... The only thing harder than being a soldier...... is loving one. For the "Oldies But Goodies" blog hop, I'm sharing a card that I made for my son who is currently serving in Afghanistan.

It's a new Bugaboo digital image that I purchased last month... I just couldn't resist this one (plus about a dozen or so more - yikes!!!). Their little characters are adorable.  As all of you know, cards for our soldiers have to be rather plain and flat for easy mailing,  so I hope you weren't expecting something all fancy, 'n all that stuff!!

For the "Oldies But Goodies" blog hop, we use things from our stash that are older than six months old... and for this card, that's the paper and embossing folder, along with alphabet stamps that are super ANCIENT!!
Quickly colored with copic markers, it made a great card for a special son for Valentine's Day.

But that's not all.. I have some blog candy that is open to any commenter. Followers who comment get two shots at the drawing. So, to enter, just leave a comment and if you are a follower simply let me know in your comment. I'll draw a lucky person on Monday, February 28th.

Here's what I have that will go to one special and very lucky person.

Blog candy includes: Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Rectanges Large die, Stampin' Up Patterns Pack III (6"x6"), Clear Stamps "Days of the Week" stamp set, and Clear Stamps Series 15 Alphabet Stamps.

So, quick... be on your way along our hop.. and visit our esteemed leader and my friend, Sue Morris. She's next on our hop.

Thanks so much for stopping by, friends.  Have a fantastic day and be safe in all you do.

It's a Hop - Thinking of Love

It's our first blog hop at Sassy Cheryl's and we are celebrating big time!

There's lots of chances to win a FREE Sassy Cheryl digi along the hop - in fact there's a chance to win at each blog! How great is that?
If you arrived here from Tracy's blog, you are in the right spot. But, if not, you will want to start at Sassy Cheryls Challenge blog, where all the details are given, along with the entire list of designers links. You won't want to miss a thing. We're still doing our weekly challenge and have a $5 gift certificate and one of Cheryl's licensed ceramic plates to give away. So there's a lot at stake.  Here's what this week's special prize is and it's perfect for leaving cookies for Santa.

If for any reason any links are broken or you get lost along the way, simply return to our challenge blog to find the link to the next stop.
Each Sassy Gal will select one person from those that commented on her blog. That means there is one winner for each post in the hop! Our hop will run from 5am Eastern Nov 30 until 5pm Eastern Dec 6 and winners will be announced on our regular challenge post on December 7th.

Here's what I put together for our "Thinking of Love" theme. Just a perfect image for a special couple celebrating a winter anniversary.

Hopefully you've checked out all of the sassy gals' blogs so far.. and now I'm having you go off to check out Sassy Cheryl's shop where you can find this cute image and so many others from our most talented, Sassy Cheryl.
I'll select one lucky person next week as the end of the hop draws near and that person will get to pick a free image from Sassy Cheryl's shop!
Thanks for stopping by, friends. Enjoy your day and best of luck in our drawings.

Everything's Hopping Today!

There's lots of cause for excitement this week. We're celebrating one full year of challenges at Mo's Digital Pencil. The design team has put together a fantastic way to celebrate... For this special occasion, we are using all of the colors of the rainbow to create our projects using Mo's digital stamps.

If you arrived here from the blog of our most super-duper talented Dawn, then you are right on track. If not, start at the beginning You won't want to miss a thing because each of our design team members is offering a chance to win an image from Mo's shop. There's some extra blog candy you will find along the way that you won't want to miss.

My part in the hop is to include the color orange in my Mo's Digital Pencil creation.... how perfect is that color for Autumn?  And I chose to use one of the first images I purchased from Mo's "The Big One"... it reminds me of a special little boy that I knew and a special day of pumpkin picking.

So, in addition to picking one lucky person from my comments to receive an image from Mo's (the winner gets to choose), I'm also giving away a $10 gift certificate to Mo's shop.

Just leave a comment to be in the running. I'll pick two lucky names next Wednesday, and we'll announce all of the winners Thursday. So you have plenty of time to stop by and say hello.

And, of course, you can play along with us in the challenge back at our home page by creating a card using any color of the rainbow. We'd love to see what you create.

Now, 'orange' you glad you stopped by?  So, be on your way and head out to see what our talented teammate Elaine has in store for you...she's the next stop on our celebration hop.

Have a fantastic day, friends. I'm sending rainbows your way. So be on the lookout so you don't miss them.

Blog Hop at Isabella's Sketchbook

Hi friends.. Today we're having a circular blog hop at Isabella's Sketchbook.... our very first blog hop. A 'circular' hop means you get to start wherever you would like (it's new to me too!). If you go through the entire hop to check out all of the lovely projects the design team has put together, you will wind up right back here with me.  All of us are using this fabulous design that Isabella created just for the hop.  I think you will find it amazing to see how one image can be used in so many different ways as evidenced by the talented design team.

I chose to create a clean and simple card.. and paper pieced the basket of lemons, as well as used several coats of  Crystal Lacquer on the lemons themselves for a dimensional look. This darling image is now available at Isabella's shop.

Have fun and enjoy the hop! Your next stop on the hop is Peri... talk about one VERY talented lady. We are so pleased to have her at Isabella's team.

Make sure you keep hopping along and leave comments along the way. The more comments you leave, the more chances you have of winning.  Our challenge continues until Friday, July 2nd at 8:00 EST and winners will be announced on Saturday, July 3rd. There will be 9 winners chosen from comments left during the hop. Each of the nine winners will receive 1 free Isabella image. How cool is that?

Today's challenges:

Delightful Sketches - It's all about summer
Digi Doodles - Anything goes

Winner of Mo's Digi!

Hi everyone...

I've selected the winner through a really mysterious and scientifically-engineered method (he-he)... I just printed out all of the comments (minus the DT members and duplicates), cut them up, put in a basket, and let my DH pick one... Here's the lucky winner of Mo's image "Ready For Snow"....

Whimcees said...

Oh what a wonderful image! I know that I must have this image! I love how you colored it and your card is great!
Barbara Diane

So, 'Whimcees/Barbara Diane' if you would email Mo directly to arrange to get the "Ready For Snow" image you'll be on your way to a great time coloring this darling pic.

Enjoy Barbara Diane!

Let's go to the hop... oh, baby!

The opportunity to win Mo's image is now closed.. but I'd love the comments anyway!

Hi everyone.. and welcome to a special blog hop. We're celebrating Mo's creativity today. It's been over six months since Mo's Digital Pencil took the stamping scene by storm, evidenced by well over a thousand followers!

If you landed on my post you are in the middle of the hop...so, start from the beginning at Jak's blog so you don't miss any of the puzzle clues.

To celebrate, we've got lots of great prizes... first, each DT member is offering you the opportunity to win the digital image that they've used in their bloghop post -- to enter just make sure you leave a comment as you go. Winners will be selected through Random.Org.

This is the image I'm offering... "Ready for Snow". It's one of the very first images I got from Mo's Digital Pencil and one of my favorites.. I love the sepia look and details.. it's great for coloring and shading.

There's also an opportunity to win several super prizes for those that correctly solve the secret phrase. Just collect the letters to the phrase as you hop from one blog to the next. Your final stop for a letter is at Paper Craft Planet. Once you've solved the anagram, put the correct phrase in your subject line and email Mo directly no later than Friday, February 19th. My clue for you is the letter

 "G"
In addition to digital images, there's Stampavie stamps from Mo's collection, logo mugs, t-shirts, gift certificates to Mo's, and a super grand prize of 'Sophie'... a handmade doll made by Mo herself! That's 16 prizes in addition to the free digis along the hop.

Your next stop in the hop is Rosette's blog... our newest member to the Design team. You'll love her magnificent work.

Good luck everyone! Thanks for stopping by and visiting a while. I hope that your week is terrific. 'Til next time, be safe in all you do.

Let's Go to the Hop (Oh, Baby) for Operation Write Home

While we enjoy the benefits of living in the greatest democracy in the world, we must be ever conscious of the fact that none of the achievements or freedoms enjoyed in America would be possible without the price that has been paid for by our servicemen and women.  - Mark Kennedy, former US House of Representatives

(If you landed on my post you are in the middle of the hop...you might want to start from the beginning so you don't miss anything.)
You might know that "Cards for Heroes" became Operation Write Home just a few months back. This project has been a fantastic success getting handmade cards distributed to our service men and women throughout the world. Every donated card finds it way to some terrific soldiers who sacrifice their personal safety and the comfort of their own home to ensure our homeland safety. This hop is in honor of Veteran's Day... well I think we decided it's "Veteran's Week".. and why not? Our men and women in uniform deserve all the accolades we can give!

I first heard about Operation Write Home about 18 months ago and I was so impressed with this project that I had to jump in to honor to all of the personal heroes in my life. I started asking my fellow card-makers to donate their cards, card fronts and even help with shipping. The response was over-whelming. Here's a pic of just some of the cards I was able to collect. It's really easy.... just ask your circle of friends to help and you will be amazed at the outpouring.

I made this card for the hop using a digital stamp from Mo's Digital Pencil. It's entitled "Time Out to Salute"... and the cutest part of this set is that the hat is interchangeable for any branch of the service (there's also a little boy version available). The versatility of this digital set is amazing. This card is in celebration of the 234th Birthday of the United States Marine Corps on November 10th of this week.

Would you like a chance to win a free image from Mo's Digital Pencil? Just leave a comment on this post by Monday, November 16th, and you might just be the lucky person. I'll draw a name that evening through random generator. Just check back after 6:00 p.m. CST to see if you are the winner. Once you try using Mo's images you will be hooked!

There are over 75 participants in our blog hop today... and many have great prizes and RAKS and there's even special incentives on the Homefront Blog. Leave a little love as you go through the hop to show your support.

Your next stop on our blog hop will take you to Carla where you can learn more about this aspiring writer, peruse her terrific blog, and read about her personal involvement in Operation Write Home.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting a while. I hope that your weekend is terrific. Be safe in all you do.

Oh Say Can You See!

Welcome to the "Oh Say Can You See" Blog Hop sponsored by SNR Card Universe (Scrapbook News and Review). I'm so glad you are able to join in this exciting event. There's so much to see and enjoy and you have to check out all of the blog candy and other goodies as you travel from blog to blog.

If you arrived at The Wired Angel from Thena Smith's blog then you are on course. If you arrived at The Wired Angel first, please start at the beginning of the hop so you don't miss anything! Share your support for our talented participants by leaving comments and some love along the way.

For this fun event, I've created a few cards in honor of July 4th, as we celebrate our independence. Ultimately, these will be sent to my oldest son currently in Army Boot Camp who is faithfully following the footsteps of his father, uncles, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers. We are a very patriotic family and are very proud of all those who have served our country.

So, one card just wouldn't do in our household... I had to make several to send to my special soldier. This first card is made with stamps from Paper Inspirations and the Heather collection of Judith Stamps. I'll save this card to give to him at graduation from Basic & Specialty training on September 11th.. how poignant that day will be.

This second card is made using the interactive stamps from Art Impressions... specifically, the 'Door Ways' series. The uses of this line of stamps for different holidays and occasions are endless, and making cards with these are one of my favorite past times. Again, this was colored with Copic markers.
My final card was made using an old stamp that I've had for a while. It's so old that I don't even know the manufacturer. I'll just call her Ms. Liberty, but if you know the maker, I would love to hear.Hop over to meet
Julie, see her lovely blog and the beautiful items she will be sharing with us.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Enjoy your day as you celebrate our freedom. As we pause to celebrate our independence, please say a special prayer to remember our troops. God bless them and God bless our great country. And most importantly, we should never forget...o
ur freedom isn't 'free'.

Three cheers for the red, white and blue~

Cards for Heroes – Memorial Weekend Blog Hop!

This Memorial Day weekend is the first bloghop for the Cards for Heroes (CFH) volunteer program. This bloghop is intended to help spread the word to paper crafters and blog followers that cards, envelopes and monetary donations are very much needed to get cards to our men and women serving in uniform. You can learn more about this great program by visiting their site and while there you will find the TOP OF THE HOP.

The military has been an important part of my family and of my dear friends, and I’m sure the same is true of you. After we were taught to have good manners and be respectful as kids, we were taught about the importance of patriotism, dedication to our country and about giving something back. Our country and flag deserve the highest honor and respect.

Patriotic Thanks2

We have men and women serving throughout the world making personal sacrifices and giving of themselves selflessly. Whether we personally agree with war efforts or not, these men and women are giving their lives to serve our country in the highest possible way and they certainly have earned our respect, thanks and admiration.

So if you can help us spread the word about this important project, you can also start by visiting Nora's Blog. Once there Nora will provide you a link to the next blog, and so on. We promise a lot of patriotic inspiration. Leave comments, feedback, praise as you go, especially on blogs not getting a lot of comments - we want everyone to feel your love and support!

Patriotic Thanks

It doesn’t take a hero to order men into battle, it takes a hero to be one of those men who go into battle. - Norman Schwarzkopf

I hope that you enjoyed these two cards today.. I certainly enjoyed creating them. Thank you very much for stopping by.. thanks for doing the blog hop. Enjoy your holiday…don’t forget to visit
Nora's Blog. We begin at 2:00 central time today!

Upcoming Blog Hop and a Card for Father’s Day

Happy Friday stampers! Before I tell you about my card, I wanted to let you know what’s happening this holiday weekend. The Cards for Heroes Volunteers have a bloghop in the works and the response from the papercrafting world has been unbelievable… please check back here tomorrow, Saturday, after 2:00 CDT to see what’s in store. We are working to create a lot of attention about this important program and the need for donated cards, envelopes, and money to defray the expense of shipping cards to our service men and women. There are opportunities to win prizes along the hop. Check out my blog tomorrow to read my post and see how it works.

And now for a card. This is another
Dustin Pike image that was released this week. Can you imagine that there are ten images for ten dollars again this week!  Wow… what a deal. I especially like that I can resize the image for the project I have in mind. That’s so cool.

This adorable dragon is a handy kind-of-guy…We all know there isn’t a whole lot in the way of masculine images, so this image is a very welcome addition to my collection.

Dragon for Dad

Thanks for stopping by.. Enjoy your day and have a safe holiday… and please stop by tomorrow to check out the ‘hop’!

Details: Dustin Pike’s Digital Images, copper brads, prisma pencils, various Basic Gray DP’s.
