Sassy Cheryl's Challenge

Hello to everyone in blog land.. Hopefully Blogger is treating you well now. It was a real bear last week, right? Everything just seemed to disappear!

This week at Sassy Cheryls' challenge, Sassy Jeni (our little Flip-Flop) is hostessing a challenge to color our image on Kraft paper. Well... you should have heard all of the rustle and bustle in the group as we tried to get our arms around it. Initially, everyone was at a loss as to what to do. But, you know what.. it turned out so darn well!  You should check out all of the creations at the challenge blog.

I elected to use this darling Sassy image...

I colored her with Prisma Pencils... masked the image and chalked the background with a light green and aqua chalk ink (Versa Magic and Color Box Pigment Cat's Eyes) to create an illusion of a frame. I chose a ribbon from my ever-growing stash (I think my ribbon supply multiples like the hangers in my closet).

And, after a bit of apprehension for me (and my fellow Sassy team mates), I think this turned out great. It's a technique I'll certainly try again and again.

'Hope you will join us this week.. Sassy Cheryl is a very generous boss and she gives away a $5 gift certificate to her shop each week to one lucky randomly-selected participant.. and also sponsors a lot of challenges.

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge

Hi friends.. Today I've got a card for Sassy Cheryl's newest challenge this week...It's "Cut It Out" this week and the challenge is put together by our very talented, Sassy Ann.

It's so darn hot here I'm thinking snowmen... cooler temperatures. Whew.. KC had a heat factor of 107 degrees today. That's where I fold like a cheap beach chair. Color me beat!

Sassy Cheryl has the cutest images.. for any occasion you can think of. I paper pieced this little guy's outfit and added LOTS of glitter.. that is so unlike me. I always feel like I'm wearing glitter for a week after I use it.. does that happen to you? I always feel like I need a steam cleaning after a bit of glitter.

We have a random winner each week that will get a $5 gift certificate to Sassy Cheryl's shop, so I hope you will play along. For next week, the DT has something fun up their sleeves and you won't want to miss it. So, make sure you follow along.
I'm also entering this in these challenges...

Asian Influence from Isabella's Sketchbook

Digital artist Isabella of Isabella's Sketchbook is hosting her very first challenge today. It's a sketch that she created while she's waiting to put together her first design team. She's so excited she just can't wait to get started. Can't say I blame her!

I absolutely love the convenience of digital images and purchased a few images from her shop a few days ago.. they are all terrific, but some in particular really caught my eye and they were perfect for a project I had in mind. So I quickly got busy making up this card for the challenge.  I enlarged the digital image to make it the central focus of my card.

By the way, in celebration of her first challenge, Isabella has a sale going on... all images are 20% off at her shop today through Friday. We all love sales, right? So hop over there to check it out.  And you might want to check out the DT requirements on her blog.. she's looking for some talented people to join her team.

I'm linking this up to her challenge.. she's got some great prizes this week to celebrate kicking off her challenges. Random winners will have a shot at...

First Place: a $15 gift certificate to Isabella's
Second Place: $9 gift certificate to Isabella's
Third Place: $6 gift certificate to Isabella's

This was a really fun project to work on. After coloring with Prismacolor pencils and OMS, I heat-set Ranger's Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel, (gave it five coats allowing it to dry in between) then popped it into the freezer for about 15 minutes before cracking it. I used Ranger's tea dye to give it an antique/distressed look.  I'll be doing this technique again in the near future... it was a lot of time spent doing it, but I love the outcome. Even the men in my house approved!

So thanks so much for stopping by and saying hello. I'm wishing you a wonderful Spring day..
'Til next time happy coloring and be safe in all you do.
