Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow

I've had this under wraps for a bit, and now I get to share this great news with you. I have been asked to join the DT gals at Sugar Creek Hollow... a place where vintage, shabby chic and primitive all come together. First, it's a style I love, and second, a style I'm longing to work on and become better at. Know what I mean?

So, it's Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and that means a new challenge. Before I get to the challenge, let me tell you about some changes to the Sugar Creek Hollow Design Team.

First, we are losing a couple of our wonderful designers because of family commitments. Marsha has been with Sugar Creek Hollow since the very beginning and her wonderful vintage designs will be missed. While Heide hasn't been with us as long, she has inspired us all each week with some gorgeous designs. Renee is going to stay with the team but will be scaling back her participation. Starting in the New Year she will become our Feature Artist and will share how recycling and repurposing are done the vintage way. These ladies have made valuable contributions to the Sugar Creek Hollow team.

So, I am one of the three new designers starting in January. All of us are sharing our vintage beauties for this challenge so you can get a preview of things to come.

Here's the newest additions to the Sugar Creek Hollow design team...
Linda Payne from Payne Holler Cards
Daniele Haddon from The Musings of a Chocoholic
Peggy Marsh from The Wired Angel (that's me!)

Now for the challenge details. With Christmas close at hand, this week's challenge is to make a CHRISTMAS CARD IN NON-TRADITIONAL COLORS. Don't forget that we are a vintage, shabby chic or primitive challenge and we'll be looking for your creation in these styles.

Please welcome this week's lovely new sponsor, Delicious Doodles, who will be providing one random winner with 4 digis of her choice. The random winner will also receive a Sugar Creek Hollow winner's badge to display. The Design Team will also choose a Card of the Week and the creator will also receive a badge to display and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot. That's a lot of stuff to win for some lucky people.

Don’t forget, we also have Christmas Blog Candy for one lucky winner to be chosen from our challenge entries between now and Christmas Eve. Check it out.. you might be the lucky person!

For inspiration, both our current and our new designers have created some fabulous Christmas cards in non-traditional colors using a couple of the images from Delicious Doodles.

Here's my Delicious Doodles digi (called "Christmas Candles") in non-traditional colors...

I love this clean and simple look... white on cream and a bit of Nesties, lace and several coats of crystal lacquer. I paper pieced the poinsettias and doubled them up over the original digital image. Kept everything in a pale peach color.
This reminds me of the first time I saw poinsettias that were other than red or white. I lived in San Diego and often got to visit the Paul Ecke Poinsettia Ranch in Encinitas, California, North San Diego County and that became the only place where I would buy Poinsettias. The poinsettias Ecke grew were amazing.

Have a fantastic day, friends.. I'm so glad you came by and I do hope that you will join us at Sugar Creek Hollow's challenge this week. Let yourself stretch a bit if you haven't tried shabby chic/vintage/primitive. I'm enjoying it and I think you will be glad you tried it too.

I'm also entering this in these challenges...

Emerald Faeries - Non-traditional Christmas colors
Clearly Inspired - Christmas
